At last things are beginning to happen. We have had to call on the services of or Councilor, Deputy Mayor Tony Ricciardi, to come to our aid. Through some bureaucratic inaction somewhere, correspondence between BRC and DERM had ground to a halt. Graham Black had an appointment with Tony on Thursday 12th and by Friday 13th the BRC CEO had been on the phone to Graham to inform him that all documentation would be sent to DERM by Friday 20th April.
If all happens as promised, we are hopeful that this means we might at least have access to our land in about three weeks.
Thank you Tony for doing whatever you did to get things moving !
Of course there will now be costs involved. The legal fees will amount to between $1,000 and $1,500. We will also have to meet the usual BRC fees for water and sewerage connections. The annual rental for the land will be between $50 and $55 per annum.
In about 3 weeks time we should have the surveyor on site. When this happens we would like as many members as possible to turn up, bearing a hammer, a saw, etc, to stage a photo opportunity for the media. We envisage a scene with all the tool wielding members surrounding the surveyor to show how ready and willing we are for this shed to get started.
The site is on Acacia Street, south of the skate board park, just past the chlorine plant. We will let you all know the day when we know. But please keep your eyes and ears open, this will be an important opportunity for us to again show how serious we are.
One measure of just how serious we need to be taken is the size of our membership. Gin Gin has 14 members, Bagara has 20 in attendance, Woodgate has 58 financial members.
NEXT SHED MEETING
The next Shed meeting at 1 Wattle Street will be on Tuesday 24th April, 9am – 1pm. We have some more machinery to clean, paint, rebuild, etc. Again a basic morning tea will be served. So please come along, even if it is only to get out of the house and have a chat.
ELECTION DAY FUND RAISER
We have permission from the Electoral Commission to run a sausage sizzle BBQ outside the Community Hall on Saturday 28th April during the BRC elections. We will need some volunteers for this as we will operate from about 8am through to roughly 6 pm. We will be selling sausages, cold drinks and raffling a 12V boat winch.
